    Hi

    I am wondering what is covered under the medical card for dental work i need two crowns does the medical card cover this? any info would be great thanks

    Unfortunately not, med card covers 2 fillings per year. Crowns are not covered.

    Are you sure you mean "crowns", these are porcelain teeth which fit over your own or do you mean a white filling to replace a broken piece of your front tooth?

    i had root canal done on two of my teeth and then filled but couldn't afford the two crowns at the time and that's when i was working full time but now only working part time can the dentist not apply for approval to hse?

    Not for crowns, they are considered a cosmetic treatment. The HSE cannot afford to treat children, they will not use their resources to pay for cosmetic treatments for adults.

    Per year, one check up, two fillings, unlimited extractions. Approval can be sought for additional fillings/dentures etc under certain circumstances, crowns/bridgework/whitening/implants etc are not approved under any circumstances.

    Can you get white fillings under the medical card or do they only cover the normal black fillings?
