Big increase in missing persons

Is it or me or is there quite a big increase in missing persons in the last year?

It just seems like a lot more than before.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Yes I've noticed that too. It's both genders and all ages, there really is a mix. Quite a few are found safely but there is an undeniably large proportion that are found dead in tragic circumstances mainly suicide :(

It could be that there is just more publicity around it nowadays. People take it a lot more seriously, although, I too have noticed it as well! It seems there's a person missing every week. :(

I think its around the same...

they just seem to get more news time and facebook time now.

alot of people go missing but are often found in a few days or hours so they never make the news... i know of 4 situation where people were reporting missing a search was undertaken and all found in 24 hours

if all cases made the news that the gardia/ coast gaurd/ fire service and other emergancy servives have been tasked to its true shocking

Can't really say for certainty if there's more, or just more awareness of it these days.

Social media such as Facebook, Twitter etc, then various missing persons websites and media sites like boards.

I'm still lucky that at 36, I still don't know personally anyone that has disappeared. I hope it stays that way too.

It's the same, there's just more media outlets. More media outlets mean less proper news to go around so smaller stories get more space.

I put up a thread awhile ago about missing woman Ann Reilly from Finglas. Could you please share the link as her family are extremely worried. Thanks
