I have an interview for the Social Work masters with UCD and Trinity in the next two weeks!! Id REALLY appreciate any advice on what kind of questions may come up and what books/info I need to study before the interview.

Advice is much appreciated as due to work commitments I won't have much time to do much studying!!

    Hi there,

Well done! Ok so UCD and Trinity interviews are really based on Coru guidelines, ethics, using theory for practice (be able to integrate this into your work experience)..such as ecological theory, attachment etc.
I would recommend that you are aware of the different roles that social workers do in different settings such as medical, mental health, child protection...
Also to be aware of any piece of research that you find interesting/significant to you, maybe try to stay away from one taken off the websites and go for something more classic from one of the major sociologists.
You will more than likely be asked, why this profession? why should we pick you?
Try to seem as genuine as you can and not sound like your reading out what you prepared!
With both interviews you will have a lecturer and a practicing social worker, generally they have male/female...sorry loads of info there!!!
Feel free to mail me if your stuck with anything..that was me last year and I was so nervous!!

    Hi guys.

Just got my interview date for UCD and reading through this post has been really helpful. Just wondering if anyone has any other tips or recommendations for the interview? Things that are essential to know before going in? I'm very anxious so really want to start to prepare myself as early as possible.
