Great news. No more bus transfers from T1 to T5 if your BA long haul is from there.

I presume, there will be a passport and boarding pass check ,the same as if you were coming in from Edi or man if you are flying international but fairly seamless compared to coming in on Ei if your onward is on BA. Great news too if you have a BA silver or better gold card or equivalent one world status,as one of the galleries club lounges or the F lounge or better still the Concorde room(if flying first, have a Concorde room card or are guested in) will now be available.

Willie has suggested there too that the route is performing well which is good to see.

EI shifting to T2 in July.

Good news re the BA move, the early morning terminal hop on inbound TATL flights was punishing at times & made routing through LHR an unattractive proposition to my mind.

Would appear so as there looks to be more A320's on this route than A319s from when BA took over the route from BMI, just judging off FR24

All good new so for Irish passengers using LHR, with EI moving to the new Terminal 2 and BA bringing this route to T5

Does Terminal 5 connect directly to terminal 4? or must you go via the central station?

You must connect at Terminals 1,2,3. Heathrow Express to Terminal 5 and Heathrow Connect to Terminal 4.
London Underground remains Heathrow Terminals 4/123 and Heathrow Terminals 123/5

If you arrive at T5 then you'll be able to use flight connections to get bussed to T4. Should still be substantially quicker than T1 where you had to be bussed to connections centre at T1 before being bussed to T4.

BHD flights are also moving to T5.

Assuming transiting passengers (either from BHD or DUB) are dealt with in a timely manner, connecting on BA will have a big advantage(T5-T5) over connecting on EI (T2-T5 later this year), so I wonder what impact it'll have on the EI codeshare going forward.

To those who fly BA or know the set up at LHR it'll make a big difference and sway some to move to BA. To an awful lot of those who would book an EI code share it'll mean little as many haven't a clue about terminals at LHR and are booking on price. The travel agents could play a big part, they may be swayed or incentivised to send pax BA all the way.

business/frequent users will be savvy...so it'll be them that will know the value of same terminal for connecting on. But even for the point2point, a T5 dept out of LHR gives business users access to the full range of T5 BA lounges, which will be seen as a valuable asset to many of them.

leisure / infrequent flyers won't mind.

I've missed a couple of flights connecting through Heathrow transferring from T1 to T5 in favor of easier to transfer European airports - Schipol, Frankfurt. BAs move to T5 might tempt me back especially with their new aircraft A380s and Dreamliners sweetening the deal!
