Conned by a fellow boards member

I bought a device which was first listed on 26.01.2014 and collected it yesterday. It did not work as advertised and seller is refusing a refund (saying he made me aware of it's limitations). After a little digging I found that the seller....

    1. Created a thread on 25.01.2014 seeking advise while stating that the device had stopped working - this device was then listed the following day, obviously in the knowledge it was not functioning.
    2. In his advert he said he had the device about 6 months - yet he created another thread in September 2012 stating he bought the device and was again looking for advice - said it was 6 months old but has owned it for 16 months
    3. Seller never accepted my offer before marking the add as sold - so I cannot leave feedback to warn others
    4. Worded the add to avoid highlighting potential issues

So I have been conned. Feel a bit silly as he did not give me his phone number (stupid on my part - screen was broke and it was being repaired) but he had 16 positive feedbacks - 100% record - so I took this to be a sign that the seller was kosher.

I think I am not allowed name the seller so am warning others that feedback/lenght of time on site should be of no importance when buying secondhand - seller's feedback was no use to me.

I have reported the item and the seller here and await a response but, realistically, I do not expect much - no offence to this site - just buying used is a grey area. I don't know what else to do bar maybe posting on one of the sellers threads now. What else would you guys do? I will not re-list this to sell on.

I would seriously consider removing the sellers name from my Christmas card list for a start.

Yes, really hoping that the site allows me to leave feedback once they check the facts!

Probably best to vent this in AH. At least here people can openly mock.

I would definetly not post a card, even if I had his address, maybe better that way,

Have you taken it up with the site?

Not trying to be smart, but you said a fellow boards member, so guessing its a possible sister site of boards, dont it would be taken too kindly it being posted here then.

AH? and I expect some mocking no matter. It's what we do best.

I would still send a "Happy Xmas" text though, be rude not to.

Voodoo either that or put some lube on the device and use it as an anal dildo.

Only really, really tight people get wound up by stuff like this. God invented skips for a good reason - fcuk it into one and move on. You have purchased a valuable lesson - shyte for sale is for sale for a reason. It's shyte.

Have you considered a strongly worded letter??

Nothing insulting, just strongly worded. That'd show him!!

Even more so not to post it here, do you expect him or her to come on here and defend them selves.

If you have been genuinely conned, giving out here about them wont help the cause, and probably breaches some boards or one of their sisters sites rules somewhere.

Me personally, I'd be keeping quiet if I just got woefully rogered up the tuba with a moody "system".. be like announcing to the teacher at school -"Miss, I wet myself!".
