Eircom NGB rolled out in my area months ago - but I can't get it

    Hi there people,

Basically Eircom claimed NGB was available in my area as long ago as September or October 2013, but my address has a "unresolved technical fault". See map of NGB coverage here: http://www.eircom.net/efibreinfo/map/. In spite of many calls to Eircom they're not bothered telling me what this fault is, let alone resolving it or even telling me if they ever will resolve it.

Is there anything I can do about this?

In my experience Eircoms customer care is just phone jockeys reading off a script so all my calls to them have been a waste of time. Is there any way to contact someone at Eircom who might actually know something about this or even want to fix it?

Is it false advertising for Eircom to advertise NGB in my area when it's not?
Would I have grounds for a complaint to the ASAI?

Are Eircom under obligation as an ISP to provide NGB where they claim that they do?
Would I have any grounds for a complaint to Comreg?

Can't help you with the fault issue, sorry.

I don't think its false advertising. Broadband availability is dependent on distance, line quality etc. (As well as whether they even offer it in your area) so factors often outside of Eircoms control.

Eircom are only legally obliged to make a reasonable attempt to provide a telephone service, nothing more.

If you look through this forum you'll find plenty of people who got a telephone line installed just to provide a broadband service, then found out they couldn't get broadband and were now stuck paying for a telephone service they didn't actually want.
