    Folks,

Which manufacture makes the most powerful production 4 pot diesel?

    HP and torque figures please.

I'm just curious as to what manufactures have achieved. I know even Toyota do a 180 bhp / 400 Nm, so I'm expecting BMW have abit more?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N47

218bhp from this 4 pot bm engine...

No doubt its impressive bhp is backed up with ridiculously low Co2 (given what it is putting out) and great economy...

    Untill I saw that N47, I would have said 3.0 HPI, 205bhp

No - that's the 525d which is now a Twin Turbo version of the 520d Engine.

Thought the 525d was a 6pot, or was that just in the e39/if at all?

I think it was the same in the E60.

That 218 bhp engine is in a few other BMWs too, 123 & 325.

    Why just 4 pot?

After a cc id imagine none of them are 4 pot as 6 is much smoother

    Bmw 123d with a Remap.

Id say that would surprise a few cars! :)

Though a hybrid does the E300 at 231hp not take the crown?

I find it odd that audi have gone for higher displacement

I'm switching from a 6 to a 4 cylinder come July. And I'm not shedding a tear having already said goodbye to petrol.
