    Hi All,
I have 2 old style sky boxes with inputs from 2 different dishes, both used for freeview channels (long story). Now just bought a humax box with recording capability. I seem to recall reading somewhere that a PVR box requires both inputs from the same dish. Is this correct, and if so why?

It actually depends on the PVR, if you get a humax HD pvr for freesat it has 2 inputs. This allows you to watch one channel and record another. If you have only one input you can only record one channel and watch another on the same transponder. On a sky hd box it has 2 inputs and uses also the 2nd input for downloading the epg details, saves time. You can have sky on a single input as well but thats another story.

and I am sure you can configure the humax to work on one input but it must be input 1.

Also you may have a quad lnb on the dish and that has 4 inputs so you could run another cable or if not a quad get one.

The inputs don't have to be from the same dish. Each tuner input is independent of the other & each of the outputs of the multi-output LNB that would be the usual setup is independent of the others, so the receiver doesn't know or care if the inputs originate from separate LNBs on separate dishes.

Thanks for that, but I may not have made myself clear when posing the question
Basically I have 2 separate feeds from 2 different dishes coming into the house.
Can I connect both feeds to the same humax pvr box?

Thanks Peter, posted my follow up question before I saw your response.;)

Must be a VERY long story. Freeview is the UK DVB-T service received through an aerial so old sky boxes would never work.

Are we or are we not to assume these two dishes are pointing at the same satellite cluster?

Sorry, I meant free to air satellite channels, and yes both dishes are pointing at the same satellite. :o
