Wondering where I could get one in the dark or glossy grey?

Just posted Chain Reaction offer in the bargain alerts thread. 11spd €624 (with code IE10), 10 spd €555

These are groupsets, not sure if you're looking for a full group, or just the cranks

Is there such a thing as a mid compact for Ultegra. That would be something like a 52/36 rather than a 50/34 with a normal compact. Would be interested in finding out if there is.

Yes they do exist. A friend of mine got a bike on wiggle that came with one. I have only seen them on ebay.com and ebay.au thou. I emailed ChainReaction and they just gave the usual sales responce, "unfortunately we can not stock everything but check our website and I am sure you will find something to suit your needs" yada yada.

52/36 is only available for the new 6800 series. http://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-ultegra-6800-chainset-62929.html

You could change the chain rings on existing crank. It is possible to get both 36t and 52t in 110 bcd (i.e to fit compact size).
