holiday pay deducted from salary...

My former employers deducted holiday pay from my final pay packet.

Their holiday year runs from 1 April each year. I finished work with them on 17 January 2014 & at the time of finishing I had used my full leave entitlement of 20 days.

Are they legally allowed to do this? I had heard that once a certain amount of time had passed, they couldn't claw back the holiday pay.

    You might advise?

    Yes - It's common practice.

And it works both ways... Had you for example taken only 10 days, you'd have been paid for the (approximately 6) days that you haven't used.
