    Hi All,

    Quick question for you all.

I will be starting our new self build in the next couple of weeks, yay :).
On my construction detail attached below for the foundation/subfloor detail. I show the Radon Barrier in Red and the DPC in Blue.

Is there a need for the DPC above the Radon Barrier on the inner leaf of the cavity wall where the timber frame will be fixed. I assume there is no need for it as the radon barrier will act as the DPC at this point and prevent any dampness rising up, but just wanting to check for definite.

Also say for my garage which will be block inner leaf and outer leaf with 100mm cavity, is there a need again for the DPC above the Radon barrier? Again I assume it is the same for either timber frame or block but just wanting to check.

    Thanks all

    Delfagio

    Hi Topcatcbr,

When you say "Yes"......do you mean
    1. that yes you don't need to install a DPC on the inner leaf on top of the radon barrier or
    2. that yes you do need the DPC installed
    Thanks :)

    Hi Docarch,

Thanks for the reply, I'm just wondering why you still need it? Surely the Radon barrier at this point acts as the DPC to prevent rising damp no.

If I add a DPC at this point surely I'm creating more of a slip place as I would have basically plastic on plastic no?
