Hi, I would love to pick your brains on this one.
I am looking at two almost identical cars, same condition and the same mileage. One is 2008 and 11000. The other is 2010 and 13000.
Which is better value? Which would you go for?
    Thanks in advance

    What make and model?

Having said that, for €2000 more I'd go with the one that's 2 years newer!

What make, model and version is that?

    Apologies, I should have said.
It is a Citroen C4 grand Picasso!

I'd just go and drive both and then decide. The year and mileage difference isn't something to get hung up on.

Took them for a test drive today and really couldn't feel any difference between them. The year is the only difference to my (admittedly ignorant) eye.

    Are they the same spec?

Did you look at the service book of each?
See if one is more regularly serviced and maybe has receipts to match.
    Check wheels for kerbing.

Those things would help give an idea of how well cared for a car has been or not.

All else being equal I'd go for the newer one.
In 5/10 years time the mileage will be high for both but one car will be 2 years younger which may increase resale price a tiny bit.

Thanks for your replies. The spec seems the same on both. I will ask for a look at the service histories.
    Thanks

Whether anyone like it or not, age is the main factor for car value.
You are comparing 4 and 6 years old cars with small price difference.
I'd definitely go for younger one.

So you'd pay €2000 more Now just to "increase resale price by a tiny bit" in 5 or 10 years time??

The C4 Picasso/Grand Picasso got revised in late 2008 with lower emissions. Presuming it's a 1.6d then the older version had motor tax of €390 compared to the 2010 of €280 I think. I know it's not a huge difference but worth mentioning all the same.

What sort of warranty is being offered on both cars?
