    Hi,

Just had to contact UPC support because my router stops working when left unused during the day or over night. It is very strange.

Just came in from work, couldn't connect from an Iphone, laptop over wireless and another laptop connecting directly, was able to load a slight garbled administration page from the router address 192.168.0.1. It had the login but was missing some of the pictures. It started working after 10-15 minutes.

It has been like that for the last week or 2. Turn off the router and back on and it works. I also notice it when I try to check my emails in the morning after waking up, no internet but starts to work after some time

Explained this to the technical support guy, who first wanted to look at the wireless settings on the router. He got me to unplug it, reset the modem at the UPC end.

I did try to explain that I thought the problem was the router because the admin page didn't load properly. He then told me that without the internet the admin page at 192.168.0.1 will not load.

I asked him to confirm this with second level and he came back saying they confirm what he was saying. He also said that if you have no internet you will not get to the admin page.

Can someone tell me who is right, I don't want to disconnect the coax and not be able to get the router back working to confirm it.

    Thanks

    Deu

Have the exact same problem, wifi just doesn't work after being left unused over night. First thing in the morning we can connect to wifi but nothing comes through, need to reboot the modem each day just to get it working again.

This all started after the upgrade to 120mb.

The Wi-Fi on this device is extremely poor but it should still work though even if the signal strength is weak out of line of sight. I'd request a replacement router if you can't connect in the same room or the connection is dropping out. This router appears to have extremely poor logs or diagnostic capabilities as I had a faulty router which was dropping the connection every 5 mins or so but UPC couldn't detect anything. The replacement is working better but the wireless signal strength is still dreadful.

I'm currently using a wireless Home Plug (Powerline) kit as the main Wi-Fi signal in my house and the signal is much stronger from it than from my router.

And the tech support is wrong. The router interface should load as long as you can connect to the router, it doesn't have to be connected to the internet. If the interface won't load, then there's probably something seriously wrong with the router.

I just came on to ask about this and have the exact same problem. Is it worth buying a new router instead of hoping the UPC replacement is up to snuff (I'd assume they'd give the cheapest one they can find), and if I do buy my own replacement, are there any specific requirements for it (I haven't a clue about routers). Can it all be set up by me, or would I need to get in touch with UPC to get the router recognised on their end?
