    It's not free to air.

You need a UK Sky card to watch it - it's Free-To-View. The channel is only available in the ROI with a Sky subscription

UK cards only, FTV or Subscription, it's not on the Irish EPG or viewable with an Irish subscription.

Quite odd that while 4 Music and its Box Television siblings were pulled from Sky in Ireland, they do continue to be available here on cable.

Isnt it? Its on my epg. (Probably from the card trick)
Are there any others like this?

It costs extra to be available on the EPG in Ireland.

These charges will have increased once they went free to air as Sky then removed any subsidised EPG carriage charges.

Presumably 4 Music was lumped in with any policy decision regards carriage on the Irish EPG as they presumably couldn't justify paying carriage fees for that channel alone.

All of this is totally unrelated to carriage on cable which is a separate entity altogether :)

what I don't understand is that 4Music, Kerrang and several other music station were available on Sky Digital for years and suddenly removed from Irish boxes.

    What's so difficult to understand?

For financial reasons they decided to go free to air.

Tied into this they decided it was not worth continuing to pay to be on the Irish EPG.

I'm not sure how much simpler it can be put ;)
