Commuting from Dunboyne to Clonskeagh

Has anyone got any suggestion on how to commute from Dunboyne, Co. Meath to Clonskeagh, Dublin 14. I take M50, it is taking me close to 2 hours on an average :( (traffic around Churchtown/Milltown is simply pathetic).

What can be the alternate options? I was thinking the following:

    - Train to docklands; take bus 11 to to Clonskeagh (this option also will take around 2 hours)

    - Drive through N3; Dublin 2?

2 hours?! I assume that's the round trip?

Also the 11 is somewhat unreliable/infrequent

I started my new job in Clonskeagh this week. I start around 7.30 am from Dunboyne - Monday it took me 1.45 hours, yesterday 1.40 hours, today 2.15 hours.

Is there any better route I can take?

I live in Dublin 14 and have a lot of family living in Dunboyne so I'd drive there frequently enough. It usually only takes me 30 minutes or so on the M50...I suppose I wouldn't be dealing with morning rush hour traffic though. For the moment the only thing I could suggest would be leaving earlier but you'd probably prefer to avoid that! I'll ask my Dad later on and get back to you - he'd know better than me

Also I see you mentioned Churchtown in the OP, what exit off the M50 are you taking? The Sandyford exit would probably be faster for Clonskeagh

No wonder it's taking so long! Come off at Sandyford/Ballinteer and head down past the Beacon; it's straight all the way.

70 bus goes to UCD and then walk to Cloneskeagh (or get yourself one of those foldy bikes)

Many thanks! I just followed stupid google maps ;)

Btw, in the mornings traffic is not moving that fast past exit 11 (tallagh exit); I will try Sandyford exit tomorrow anyway.

That is another option too - any idea on how long it will take in the morning (say 7-7.30) from Dunboyne to UCD (Burlington Road?)

The 70 does not go to UCD.

You would need to change to a 39a/46a/145 and walk from UCD or Donnybrook Church (if you're heading to Beaver Row). These buses are extremely regular.

The 7:10 70 will get to Kildare St in 55 minutes where you could change to one of the aforementioned buses or also the 11 should you be lucky.

Use a travel 90 ticket to pay a total of €2.75 per journey (Dunboyne - Dublin4/14).

Thanks for picking me up on that! I was thinking about the 39a.

I took Sandyford exit today and took me 1.15 hours (started at 7.30 and reached office at 8.45) - saved almost 45 minutes. Thanks for the tip!
