My hubby is useless at the internet and filling out forms etc so he has an agricultural adviser to do this for him however he has been a bit lax lately and as a result we still have not received our SFP.

Anyway to fill in for the SFP and other such things do you have to be an agent or say can anyone(like me) who is fairly tech savvy do it?

Personally with new cap coming in 2015 I would stay with ag advisor for next few years to optimise payments

By the way no payment received for 2013, get on to sps section ASAP if not, ring portlaoise

yes you can do it yourself, you may make a better hand out of it than a lax advisor collecting silver

Contact your local IFA office, they should be able to find out the status of your payment and advise you, I'm actually trying to sort something similar for someone at the moment

Stick wit agent if your no comfortable wit or understand rules, do s and donts etc etc. If u have an inspection you will need professional to complete papeework and let them answer questions unless your completely up to speed. While i would be comfortable doing the paperwork but i still get professional.
On the issue on no sfp. Did u have an inspection or. some papers not returned.
I know ur agent should have answered or ur other half. Contact. Sfp section

Just to update that we still haven't received our SFP, they have said we are being fined 100% of our payment due to putting in incorrect paperwork. A mistake on our behalf? Surely they can't do this? Is there anything we can do?

Sent you a PM, had a similar experience myself. Got it sorted eventually, hope you do too. If you can get down to Portlaoise you may be lucky enough to bump into someone who is sympathetic to your situation. It's a case of meeting someone who has the authority to press a button, getting rid of your SFP penalty and releasing your payment.

I would contact them and the agent. Is he an independant agent or is is teagasc. There is no way an agent should make a mistake in paperwork that would cost you 100% unless an issue with maps etc. I would ring the department and clarify what the issue is. I would also contact agent ash him to find out why payment is delayed. I would not inform him that you had already been in contact with department.

SFP is handled from Portlaoise office a phone call will quickly find out any issue's re same. Maps are a big issue with overgrown area's a particular issue and where non eligable area's have not been marked out over the years.( rivers, lakes, large amounts of rock, roadways, buildings and woods/forrestry)

Apparently the issue is to do with Maps, it's to do with land we had rented last year it seems.

Someone else may have put in maps also. However if you had it rented and cattle on it it should be easy to clear up.

Yeah I think that is the problem, the owner of the land is very tricky and eh a bit dodgy. So I think he put in for it aswell!! We paid rent but whats to say his word against ours.

This is the proverbial chestnut for the last few years. However it is easy enough to prove if he was paid by cheque or bankdraft. Even if by cash he will have issue down the line. I have seen this flare up in a few places where owner rents but is holding onto maps and renter sends in maps anyway.
