Lost purchase/expense invoices

    Hi,

    We moved offices recently and in the move I lost two lever arch folders that had my purchase invoices from 2010 & 2011.

    If the taxman called for an inspection would I need the original invoices to show him or would my workings for my VAT returns & chq payments list (all in excel) suffice?

    Has this ever happened to anyone else and what was the taxman reaction?
