Reluctantly selling my classic Alan bike to make room for a new arrival!

    66SFx9.jpg

Asking price is €375 including delivery around Dublin but postage extra otherwise.

Frame: 1983 Alan Super Record 57cm toptube and 57cm seattube. Anodised aluminimum tubing threaded and glued to polished aluminium lugs.
    Stem & Bars: Cinelli
    Seatpost: 3ttt
    Bottom Bracket: Gipiemme
    Headset: Tange
Front & Rear Derailleurs & Shifters: Campagnolo Super Record
Brakes & Levers: Campagnolo Super Record
Crankset: Campagnolo C Record with 172.5 cranks and 50/39 chainrings.
    Block: Shimano 14-24 6-speed
Wheels: Campagnolo hubs, Mavic Open-Pro rims and ss spokes
    Tyres: Specialised Armadillos
Pedals: Campagnolo with MKS toe-clips & straps
    Sadle: Rolls San Marco

In great condition with the exception of a small hairline crack in the bottom headtube lug. This has not changed since I bought the frame six years ago despite quite a bit of use. Saddle and tyres have a bit of wear.

Can post more photos and info on frame if required or come and see it (Dublin NS).

Not really sure if you can see it here but it extends about a third of the way up. Hard to make out but I thought I should mention it.

Nice bike - the chainset isn't C-Record though! Athena would be my guess.

Thanks for comments guys. Much appreciated. It's a joy to cycle. Assumed the chainset was C-Record as it came from a friend along with some Delta brakes but I stand corrected letape.
Nearly all the rest of the equipment came from my old Mercian Pro that I bought secondhand in the Rutland in 1994. Used regularly until I fatally injured that bike (and nearly myself) in 2008. Couldn't bear to see the Campag gear lying in the shed unused so bought the Alan frame to give it a new life.
Back to business - any serious interest out there?

    Beautiful bike. GLWS

( I can't afford it so have a bump on me)

Edit: She's just caught me staring at it. Suffice to say I won't be buying it anyway....

Do you still have the delta brakes?

Brakes, Ergopower levers, front and rear derailleurs, all 1994 Campag Record. Plus a second pair of Delta brakes, one of which has a broken arm.
Will put them up here in the next few days once I get a chance to take a few photos.
Looks like the chainset on the Alan is an Athena allright, from around 1990.

    Hi Mercian Pro,

Are you far from city-centre? Might be able to take a look tomorrow evening.

Sorry to hear about your Mercian's demise. Spent 4 hours on my 1977 Mercian Olympic today. Great bikes!

    Best wishes, Brendan

Just adding my ten cents worth.. But I'm not a Campagnolo expert. The chainset looks to me like Croce D'Aune - one level below C Record. The chain sets were fairly similar in appearance. The right side crank is seperate to the five 'arms' in your photo but the C - Record one is integrated with one of the arms. This group set also came with delta brakes. Early 1990's.

Never realised there were so many Campag fans out there. Velobase would seems to say that it could be Croce d'Aune or Chorus RS but I don't want to upset letape again;) http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=C652B3B2-8D97-4809-8046-401C780AAF9F&Enum=115&AbsPos=8

just shifted my bike with croce d'aune...thats a croce d'aune chainset alright..the chorus ones of the same era were duller in colour i think

Yep - on closer inspection I reckon it's CDA as opposed to Athena. Apologies Mercian Pro!

The distinguishing feature are the integrated Allen key extractor bolts! Otherwise visually very like Athena or the later Chorus model.

Croce D'Aune and Chorus RS are the same crank. Due to trickle down technology when CDA was discontinued the crank trickled down and became the crank for the Chorus RS group.
