Reasons for decreased tax credits?

A family friend has asked me to look into this, but she has been with the same company for a number of years - almost a decade - but her wages have been consistently lower than usual in recent weeks and she says it is because her credits have gone from €5,000 to €3,000.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Thanks.

    List of tax credits here:
    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it1.html

    Normal ones:

Single person tax credit = 1650
    PAYE tax credit = 1650

Most people get those two tax credits.

Wasn't there a change in pension tax credits in the last budget? Would this be affecting her?

She needs to check her 2014 tax credit cert and compare it to her 2013 one.

There is no such thing as "pension tax credits".

    Maybe you mean something else?

Rent relief has been steadily decreasing the last
    few years.

Also changes to single parent tax credit this year, mainly affecting single fathers though.
