Caught in the act/Blackmail Scam

Hi Guys,

I need some opinions regarding something before i decide to go to the police.

Now I'm not here to be judged i would just like some advice on how next to proceed.

I was on a hook up website recently and got chatting to who i thought was a woman. This person suggested we go on skype and chat,now iv never used skype before but had a fair enough concept of it and was messaging her back and forth for a little bit,she asked did i have facebook to prove i was really and i linked her to my page, she then asked did i want to have some fun and asked me to go on video and show her my groin area. Now i had no problem with this but i wasn't aware that only my camera was rolling when doing this. Any way after a couple of seconds id say 10,a video comes up of me playing with myself and then she starts to say that if i don't pay her 300 pounds she will leak the video to family and friends and starts to send me links to their pages.

Now heres the thing,joke is on her, i really couldn't have given a toss if she did or didn't,iv done worse pissed on a night out with the lads or had worse done to me and in fact if she did my family and friends would have a great oul laugh about it and would have preferred that than me chalking up cash and giving it to her.

She started to say i had to set up a western union account and transfer the money and if i didn't she would leak the video...i proceeded to tell her i don't care if she did or didn't and she could rightly go and f**k off. She then tried to drop the price to 200 pounds and when she saw i wasn't budging she went off line and no video was brought to anyone s attention

Now m pretty sure this a UK based scam as she asked for the money in pounds,i went back to try and find her ad but it no longer exists but i still have her skype details.I also put up an add about it on the page and have had a few people mail me saying they were in a similar situation and confirmed that the name was the same person

Now my question for you guys is,is it worth it going to the police about this,not a lot of people would have the galls to stand up and tell them were to go and I'm sure lots are coughing up the money, will the guards take it seriously, I'm mean blackmail is illegal.

What do you guys think, i need your opinions

Yes. It's blackmail/a crime.

Yes. Probably Uk police eventually but speak to a local guarda first

And check out to see if it is an offence to send such images over the Internet. The recipient may be under 18 which really lands you in it.

to be honest it was probably a guy...iv checked out online and this scam is getting bigger...
