Question that just came up - a 66,000 km Civic 1.4 needing a service

    Couple of questions

What should it cost if done properly (main dealer/indy) - owners been quoted 180 euros

And what sort of things need doing beyond normal oil/filters on a Civic during a service at that mileage

Owner has also been told that the timing belts okay for another 20,000 kms - whats the timing belt interval on these

    Thanks guys

What needs doing will really depend on what was done at the last service. Main dealers normally charge more in labour than independent garages. Also remember that timing belts have a fixed time interval as well as mileage due to the fact that rubber perishes, so if doing small mileage then follow the time interval.

Might due coolant change, might be due brake fluid. Maybe auxiliary belt(s) need changing. Brakes etc.

    Lovely thanks

In terms of whats been done or not - said Civic has apparently been on 99 euro servicing since the owner got it.

Shes been quoted 180 euros for the next service so was wondering if that was an okay price - ie not a rip off

She has the handbook - so hopefully she can work from that in terms of what needs doing (according to Honda schedules).

Thought id ask on the basis - that someone might know off hand what extra specific items might be recommended at around the 66,000 kms mark.

    Thanks to all :)

If she was quoted €180 then she should ask what is included in that price and ask for it on paper. I can't see how then can quote such a price for a basic service and I don't think the TB is due at 66km, I though it was 80k kms?

When you say 2007 Civic, is it the old shape or the new shape? The newer shape has a timing chain rather than a belt. The belt interval on the older shape is 120,000 KM, or 8 years, whichever comes first.

Assuming it's the newer shape also, here's the full recommended service for your mileage / age. The older shape would be almost identical to this.
