The new Public Services Card is designed to replace other cards within the public sector such as the free travel pass and the social services card

Hope so. I got mine at 16 and it has been used for so much swiping, opening jammed locks, cutting cheese and other substances, and gathered so much mank I can barely read my childish signature. It'd be good to have a card that can store and update information on all public services details. That said, I'm a bit Rain Man when it comes to ID numbers - can still remember my Leaving Cert one.

I got mine in December. They told me it will be rolled across the country and eventually down the line it will contain all of your information i.e health etc.

    Its cool though!

It will. Pretty impressive use of tech. Effectively there are actually computers in the cards and will be used by all government departments.

no, it's a smart card. Put it up to a reader configured for it and the card can interact and draw power from it. Other than that it'll be constantly in standby.

hopefully they will replace the "Cornflake box" bus passes.

They currently are, but at a very low number per week.
