Having a pigout day today, just stuck some ovenchips in the airfyer and I'm going to coat the buggers in vinegar. I love vinegar on chips, nothing else though just vinegar. What do you take on yours?

From the local chipper, thick cut with red sauce and laced with salt. It's rarely I eat them so when I do, I do it right :pac:

Ketchup is vile, like putting pure sugar on your chips, it's for uncultured cretins.

With salt usually. Partial to some vinegar too every now and then. Hate any kind of sauce.

Every bit as good as fried in lard, with 1% of the fat, you gotta try it man.

Salted, with a big dollop of Mayo, or sometimes Mayo + Ketchup mixed up in a lovely pink mess. I've also gotten mad into sweet potato fries lately. Nomalicious.

Also, the Sauce MUST be on the side for dipping, no soggy chips for me.

I like them with loads of salt and vinegar (chipper vinegar is best imo).

Also, quite partial to a cheesy garlic topping. Or chips dipped in ketchup or mayonnaise.

I love 'chipper' chips, but I agree with you OP, thay're pretty decent from the airfryer.

I hate salt, salted chips really don't do it for me. Vinegar is ok but I'd prefer without.

Just red sauce or mayo (not both) and I'm grand.

It took 'til now for someone to mention curry sauce. You're all disgusting people.

From a proper chipper: Loads of salt and vinegar.

If I'm getting garlic & cheese fries the only places (near me anyway) are Supermacs and Abrakebabra. The garlic sauce in proper chippers isn't nice.

If I'm getting taco fries then Abra. There's a chipper near me that does this amazing taco-bacon-cheese chips which isn't the mince taco, just the spicy pink sauce. Ridiculously unhealthy but so delicious.

Chips from McDonald's, Burger King etc are kind of a waste of calories tbh.

just salt . or shed loads of vinegar first and then the salt . never the salt first

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,931 ✭✭✭donegal_man

Garlic and herb mayo or ketchup. Haven't had salt and vinegar on them for years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 944 ✭✭✭BetterThanThou

Home made chips I dip in ketchup or curry sauce, or if I'm having them with something that has gravy/pepper sauce in it, I dip them in that. McDonalds chips, I usually eat with no sauce and only the salt that's on them when I get them. Occasionally, if I get dippers or nuggets, I dip them in the sauce with them, but that's rare. Chipper chips, I eat with salt and vinegar, and crispy bits if it's out of Leo Burdock, nothing else, as I feel it ruins what is already perfection. Burger King chips, I usually dip in ketchup. Other restaurants vary, usually chips which are heavily seasoned I eat without sauce, and chips which aren't heavily seasoned, I eat with ketchup.

In brennans bread! Sometimes with curry sauce :o

Douse the chips in Goodall's or Sarson's Malt Vinegar. Then a light sprinkling of Salt. Putting salt on first is all washed down to the bottom by the torrents of vinegar.
Close or cover for a moment and then reopen and shove your face down into the chips and breathe in deeply. You will splutter and gasp for oxygen as the acrid acid fumes arising from the banquet intoxicate you. When your eyes have stopped watering and you've regained composure start to feast. 2 drink choices here: Cold milk (so you can feel the grease film on the roof of your mouth) or boiling tea....for the added masochistic sensation of completely sterilising your gums and being macho.
A slice of buttered Brennans close by is optional but highly recommended.
