Totally Lost to What to do now/next

So, In May/June I finished up with 2:1 in digital humanities degree in DKIT in the areas of English and Archaeology.
My original plan was to take the year out do some work for money and then do work experience in the library sector and teaching to see would I like either of these areas to work/study in.
So for teaching I do literacy tutoring 1:1 an hour a week and then I got put on a subs panel before Christmas after going for a job interview with the vec/etb.
Still Haven't managed to get a library jobbridge scheme, my local county council wont give me any work experience.
So now Im feeling totally lost and down. I have applied for loads of Jobs!
    And Nothing!
But now Im kinda getting under pressure now to try and figure out what do I wanna study now with deadlines and parents.
I was thinking of doing some type of springboard digital marketing or computer course because I get it paid for free! And the jobs market be good!
Or I could go and do a teaching Dip in further education but their big enough fees but my parents would pay for them but they already are paying for my sisters wedding. So I worry about putting them under financial strain.
And the adult education sector is tough to get into a lot of it is waiting for the right job to get advertised and then try to know someone normally.
I was thinking of the library course in UCD but job opportunities arent the best. Im just scared I guess of jumping into one area and I wont get anything and I sink and I still be left with no money, job. But then with Computers it seems so hi-tech and just not my cup of tea I like the kinda social media end of it better or e-learning.
Like should I just give up and try the computers and then have a bit of money finally but I think I will just be unhappy. But then I can be happy and do teaching but it a waiting game for the right job to come up.

I was also looking into early childhood education and Montessori teaching cos with teaching literacy I lot of what I do kinda comes from there. But I wont make a lot of money and havent any experience in teaching small kids.

I just feel like a bit in a deadend and I dont know what to do next

Know how you feel in a way, sort of in the same position myself re not knowing what to do. Finished my masters in September and took some time off just to relax and said that I would figure it all out in February when I came back from my holidays. Now I'm back and I feel so lost. I have no clue what I even want to do and have been applying for jobs left and right without any success because I have no experience. I don't even know what kind of jobs I want to do, but because I only work part-time at the minute in a supermarket I feel like I just need anything else so I can save some money. Right now I earn probably the same amount as someone who's on SW because I only do 18 hours a week :/

Hope you figure something out for yourself, if you're into social media then digital marketing could be a possibility as you were saying. My masters is in marketing and we did do a module on DM. Of course, there's more to it than just social media but digital is really big at the moment and I see a lot of jobs for digital marketing execs going...although the majority necessitate some sort of previous experience as well as a qualification. You seem to have a lot of different ideas and I'd say that's probably weighing you down a bit because you're unsure of which path to take. Although it's probably better than someone who has no ambition or any idea what they want to do at all.

*hugs* I just graduated from a languages degree last November and have no clue what I want to do. I have a TEFL cert and feel that I'll need to get some experience abroad as there is not much here for me. I like TEFL but it's an incredibly demanding and competitive job in Ireland anyway with little security with no contract. I am staying in Dublin at the moment to save money and get some health checks as I haven't been well with my stomach. After that, I'll probably go abroad and teach English for a while hopefully.

Funnily enough, I was looking at a marketing conversion masters in DIT but, after reading it, I kinda felt it wouldn't be for me. The area seems vast and you need to know what you want from it, particularly at 10k for the year.

I landed myself a Jobbridge! Doing Admin Communications work for the council for the Community and voluntary forum department, not ideal as I get only 90 euro a week but sure least I might have a better idea afterwards what I do and dont want

Just in case you're interested, there is was a really good supplement in the Irish Times today on postgrad options, with some articles and ideas for conversion courses.

Thanks I picked it up already! =)
Im hoping do I like working in an Office and Communications, cos If I do in my Local IT, they do a digital marketing/communications course for springboard its on in the evenings so Might do that if this is something I enjoy doing, if it doesnt work out that way least I know it isnt what I want.

Yeah, thinking myself that I might work abroad or something...just need to find something full time first so I can save!

Yeah, €10,000 is pretty steep alright. My masters only cost me €6,000 because I got €2,000 off for a scholarship...but still expensive, had to take it all out on a loan :(

Yeah that marketing masters is expensive. I don't think I'd be interested in marketing. Better give it a miss.

I saw another one for about €7,000 in Tourism Management in DIT. I think that would be interesting and would compliment my languages degree quite well.

I won't be deciding anytime soon to do a masters. I'll hopefully be going abroad to explore other opportunities. But it's good to have some ideas. :)

I have been teaching 27 years.
Would you not thinking about abroad for a year or two? I taught in Saudi Arabia for 2 years, as I could get no job in Ireland. Looks better on a CV if you have been working in my humble opinion.

The thing about teaching - either primary or secondary - is that there are very few jobs in the sector at the moment. There are some jobs but there aren't that many.

Yeah I know what you mean. I am currently in Dublin getting some health problems sorted out. But I have thought about going to France or Spain to teach English for a year or two. I have applied for a language assistant job in the French Ministry of Education and I'll hear whether I got that in May (hopefully when I have my health problems seen to by then).

I have a TEFL certificate to teach English and give part-time grinds in French and Spanish to leaving cert and university students. I absolutely love teaching languages and find it rewarding when I see my students progress. But grinds and teaching in a school are two different areas.

I have always thought about training as a Secondary School Teacher because I prefer teaching the communicative aspect of language as opposed to it as an academic discipline at university level. But, with the lack of jobs and the costly nature of training in Ireland, I don't want to rush into it. I might see how teaching English in a secondary school will work for me in France. But, until then, I am not rushing into anything.
