Question about 2007 Jetta Front Indicators

I had to change a front indicator bulb today and had a brief (and probably daft) question:

    2007_volkswagen_jetta-pic-20166.jpeg

As you can see from the picture above, the indicator is in the horizontal panel of the light that runs across the bottom. On both of my lights only the inside half (i.e the left side as we look at the picture above) of the panel lights up when the indicator is on. So the half of the panel to the outside, which curves around the front wing, isn't lit up when the indicator is on.

If someone else has a Jetta would you mind confirming that that's normal?

    Cheers.

Yes it is the design very like it's sister golf.

I myself would prefer the light beam out the side part also but they designed it that way.

Only slightly OT but VW and Audi seem to be on a mission to make indicator lights as small as possible at the moment. For example, the new Passat has the tiniest little slits for indicators, and moreover they're embedded inside the tail lights which makes them even more difficult to distinguish. Shouldn't there be some kind of regulation stipulating a minimum surface area for such things?

The 2010 modle Audi A6 is the worst I have seen especially when brake lights are illuminated as the indicator lense is in between all the led lights and they use an ordinary halogen lamp for indicator.

All the models with DRL's dim the front side light that indicator lights.
