    Hey folks
Just wondering is there a leauge in Ireland, and if so what is the standard like ?
Also how easy is it to get involved and try out,
I have never played the game but know the rules would love to give it a try, im living in North Dublin ,
Are the teams any good and is the leauge if there is one well run ?

    There is www.americanfootball.ie

Very easy. Call up one of the teams or send them a message and they will invite you down.

Its the off season right now so the basics are being thought to rookies but every team will make you feel welcome and get you up to scratch.

These days yup on the Northside you have 2 teams close to you. Dublin Dragons in Westmanstown and Dublin Rhinos in Castleknock. Both teams very well run.

All the info you need on this thread:

You'd have to play flag football at that age. Contact is 18+ in Ireland unfortunately. Flag can be great though to get to know the game.

Roughly what part of Dublin are you in?

Youth kitted football in Ireland is 16 year olds and up. This may be moved back to 15 later this year . South Kildare Soldiers, Drogheda Lightning, and Craigavon Cowboys,Carrickfergus Knights all have youth teams.

Is that a recent development? It was 18+ when I was involved about 3 years ago.

Very much so. I was at the youth blitz where the soldier were joint winners with knights.
