The radio doesnt turn off when i turn of he car. Is this normal?

It did have a old nokia hands free kit installed whick i removed and this was powered from the power wires off the radio. Could this of affected it.

Is it also losing radio presets?

Could just be a case of swapping the constant 12v and ignition 12v cables on the loom.

    No it keeps its presets.

Its not a huge problem just an annoyance and i have forgotton to turn it off a few times.

Does the kit cut off straight away when you turn the car off or does it stay working for a few minutes if you're on a call?

I see. Is there a wiring loom adaptor fitted to the new stereo or is it all spliced and taped up?

Are there any bullet connectors on any of the wires going into the stereo?

Hope i explain this right. There is an adapter going between the radio and the wiring for the original radio. The wires were then spliced on the original wiring to get the power for the hands free kit. I can get a few pics of it tomorrow.

Oh right :) I get the picture!

Do the plugs in the back of the stereo look like this?

If your radio is the Audi Concert then it requires only 1 x 12v supply to power it on. What make and model radio is in your car?

Oops, I figured for some reason that the stereo was aftermarket!

Most likely the Acc and Constant are linked.

Would running a feed from the cig lighter be acceptable?

Remember the car is correctly wired for the radio originally designed to be in it. Most likely the Acc and Constant supply wires are linked together and connected to a permanent supply , therefore the radio remains on even after switching off the car. There is only one way to solve this and that is the right way. Find a 12v switched supply inside the fuse board and make a fuseable connection there.
