Any advice on places to stay in Tavira and best sights to see in this area of Portugal? Going late August early September

Ilha de Tavira is a must - a short 10 min ferry trip across to the most amazing island, beautiful beaches, restaurants/bars/sunbeds available there too.
A trip to Olhao especially on market day, a day at Barril beach (a little train takes you from the car park if you prefer not to walk that stretch).

Re accommodation it really depends on your budget, if you will be renting a car, whether you want self catering, if its adults only or family etc etc....I can give you some ideas if you can clarify this.

http://www.tavira-today.com/ lots of local info here, ferry times.. :)

Tavira is stunning, I love it there. The Pousada is a perfect spot to stay, you're within walking distance to most places including the boats to the island.
