I wouldn't milk heifers once a day. Important to get heifers milk flowing after calving. Just the one bit of advice treat them well feed them well make sure they don't get bullied for feed space by older mature cows. Feed them a 18% protein ration. Make sure it is high in energy aswell. Energy is the engine protein is the driver. Feed about 2.5kg-3kg/head/day. A heifer after calving has to compete with mature cows for food produce milk & go back in calf. Oad really only beneficial for under conditioned cows/heifers to help them put on condition & good for fertility to go back in calf. A waste of missed opportunity of selling milk if they are in good condition & are fed well.

Id never do it if my cows/heifers were in good condition. Only the odd time on a cow not in the best condition. Holstein cows here but don't have to do that much
