I recently downloaded a few films to my laptop
and wanted to play them on my samsung tv.
I didn't want to keep moving the laptop over and watching with vga/audio connections,so I tranfered them to a usb stick and inserted this in the tv.
It got real hot after only a couple of minutes, never mind trying a full length film.
Any other options? would simply using a usb extension cable work?

It's normal for a thumbdrive to get warm when doing a lot of I/O, after a while. If it is getting 'real hot' in a matter of minutes something may be wrong. Possibly a defective thumbdrive or defective port on your TV.

Does it get similarly hot in your computer? Do other thumbdrives get hot in the TV?
