Bringing wine in from France

Hi folks, anyone had any experience of bringing wine in from France? I am not going there, but I know a driver that will pick up some for me. Just wondering what is the best approach. Should I work out which port he comes via, then look up a place online and place my order. Then give the order number to him to pick up?
