    Hello.

I would like to know if there is someone here who has above adapter. I will have one lens to test on my Canon 50d very soon and I would like to test it before buying expensive adapter.

Let me know if there are more weird people like me ;)

    Hi Marcin,
I asked at the club about this adapter and unfortunately no one has it. I saw it on Ebay.ie for approx. 40 euro. For your 50D should you be looking for an EFS rather than EF adapter?

yeah..i've got my hands on the person who is actually making kit's which are super expensive. I will have to wait and see how good my FD lens is going to be before making a decision. Thanks John

    I will refresh this thread,

I've got a lens and looks it's in a very good condition. I would like to check it first before buying kit for it.

Does anyone here have older Canon Analog body which will accept FD lenses?

Or other system just to check this lens?

You are wasting your time trying to convert FD to EOS. The adapter has to have a glass element in it to allow focusing to infinity. That is the weak point, the quality of glass just isn't up to the job. You are better off getting a M42 lens which you can convert via a glassless adapter. Alternatively get a Sony NEX or similar camera, the FD lenses convert with glass less adapters. I have a collection of FD lenses for my NEX and the picture quality is nearly as good as my 5D. The NEX also has a neat trick called focus peaking which helps with manual focusing.

I wasted money buying that lens ;) there is a 70-210 f4 EF for similar price. There is a kit from one lad where I can convert permanently this lens to fit my EF system. I wanted to see quality of that glass ;) Now I want to check it and probably resell it. It's too much money to convert it to work fine on EF. Cheapest price is 99$ for that kit. It's not worth on this lens. Myabe on 55 1.2 would be better or 85 1.2 ;)

    My 2 Cents

    I have a Canon FD 55mm, F1.2 attached to a 7D and 5D Mark 2.

    http://www.adverts.ie/4391797

I've used the 2 different types of cheap FD to EF Adaptors to See how the lens works on EF bodies

The FD to EF without Glass, allows full F1.2 but not Infinity Focus.

The FD to EF with Glass, Allows Infinity Focus, but Reduces the F stop to F 1.4 minimum, as well as use a piece of inferior glass which causes chromatic aberrations at low F stops.

The Expensive route is to get the EDmika Adaptor which is not a big job, but as its a specific tooled piece of Brass, its expensive at around 80 Euros.

    Conclusion:

Even though its tempting to go down the FD route as it opens you up to some great lenses, I would consider using the Sony NEX or similar with the FD Lenses, If the FD fitted to the EF Body camera better in the future, it would become very popular, but at the moment its not.

However, One last thing I would like to mention, which I cannot put my finger on, or explain why.

"When I take a portrait shot with the 55mm at F1.2 on the 5D or 7D, I'm BLOWN away, by the unique way the Glass captures the Light reflects it onto the sensor and makes the picture. There is something special about the Age, quality and characteristics of the Glass, which compared to its younger sibling, the 50mm F1.2 is different.

Its like driving a very old sports car, It has a very different feeling.

    My 2 cents anyways.
