Run & Cycle - How to Maximise Training?

    Lads,

Want to get some advice on how you combine running and cycling, trying to break some running pb’s this year I like running but I really love to cycle, I believe that long steady cycles up to 3 hours benefit my running, I burn more fat, loose more weight from cycling than running, cycling builds leg strength and I have noticed my running cadence has increased, given that most triathletes possess a good club standard in running and cycling how to you combine training for both while maximising training in both disciplines.

I don’t have a turbo trainer, but might get one but any training schedules or advice is appreciated.

At present I run approx. 35-45 miles per week with one or two speed sessions, for cycling I just cycle with a cadence approx. 80-100

    Check out www.trainerroad.com

A couple of us on here using it and find it great. If you buy a compatible trainer, an ant+ speed and cadence sensor, and an ant+ stick it will give you a "virtual" power number to work from. There are also numerous training plans to choose from.

It costs $10 per month but I think it's well worth it. Of course, a real power meter would be even better but you're talking over €1000 for one of those.
