Twickenham - 6 Nations Weekend

Heading to London for the 6N game on Fri night 21st Feb and back on Sunday. Absolutely no luck with getting tickets for the match (unless you want to offload €500 each).
Does anyone know of anything rugby related (pre match meetup/photo sessions at irish team hotel etc etc) that might be going on the Fri night/sat morning or likewise a post match banquet after the game that we might go to. I am hoping to do more than just sit in a boozer from Fri night to Sunday morning. Want to try and get something else from the weekend.
    Any suggestions welcome :)

Match day in Twickenham is a great experience, unfortunately once you leave the area, tho whole rugby experience largely disappears due to size of city. Richmond is a great base to take in game. Not sure of where players are staying etc, this info can sometimes come to light nearer the time. Ticket situation never good, some clubs get as few as 12 for this game and there is no chance of a spare leaking outside clubs. Once clubs look after their President etc, there are very few tickets even for the fans within the clubs.

Think the team normally stay in the Chiswick Moran. Chance your arm. I live in London, managed to get a pair of tickets in 2010 but not in 2012 (probably better off). But Twickenham/Richmond is to best spot for a rugby crowd.

Some people will always get tickets on the day, just need to be in right place at right time. A lot of luck involved. Invariably some lads drink too much and decide to stay in pub!

I'm thinking of trying my luck and going to Twickenham on game day to see if there is any one selling tickets. Has anyone done this before and been successfull, and if so how much did you pay for the tickets? Really want to go to this game but am not going to part with riduclous money that people are selling them for online currently

We went in 2010 and I don't remember one person selling tickets from the train station all the way up to Twickenham. But I do remember passing loads of people with signs looking and asking for tickets. They are like hens teeth! Personally I'd feel its a bit far out to go to try get a ticket, but that depends where you are traveling from, you might be better finding a pub with a good screen and a bit of atmosphere. Of if you do go to one of the pubs near by ask the barman do they know of anyone shifting tickets. Anytime we have a spare if someone can't go last minute we'd always ask the barman and they can usually point to someone looking for a ticket.

I got a pair in the Turk's Head (near St Margaret's rail station, the stop between Richmond and Twickenham) back in 2010, but got very lucky. Pubs like the Cabbage Patch are just too busy on match days and aren't fun, so we headed there instead.
