ESP Light - Audi A4 2003 Auto

When Ive been driving for 20 mins or so, the warning light for the ESP / stability control comes on my dash. I drive a 2.0 Audi A4 automatic, 2003.

Obviously when a warning light comes on it should be checked, but Ive just spend the guts of a grand on various other repairs so am low on cash. Given that you can switch the ESP off anyway (its not off currently, Ive checked), is this something I can ignore for a little while, or could it be an indicator of something bigger that needs attention now?

    Thanks

If it turns off again when you restart the engine than it is most likely the brake light switch. Small part just behind the brake pedal. Only a few euro to replace and canbe done yourself.

It does, but I barely know where to put the petrol in so will probably still need the help of a professional. Cheers.

Try starting the car and, with the light off, turning the steering wheel from full left to full right lock. If this brings the light on then it's probably a front ABS sensor.

I may be in Dublin 5 this weekend or next if you want the car scanned to see what fault codes have been logged in the ECU.
