I've never heard of it but judging by the name alone, which perhaps is wrong of me, I wouldn't go anywhere near it.

None of these marketed "diets" are great overall. If you're going to follow a programme in terms of support and guidance WW and Slimming World aren't the worst but you have to take them with a pinch of salt. There are some stickied threads at the top of this forum that provide great information about basic nutrition. it'll take some time, but read through them. A lot of the time, just eating more simply (cutting out the processed stuff) can lead to weight loss in a healthy but more importantly sustainable way.

Hi doctorwhogirl, ya im a bit sceptical about it also! I just really need to lose weight fast, tried sw and ww but always give up after a few weeks, thats when I start to lack motivation!

I know it's easy say, but losing weight fast isn't the way. Some weight will come off quickly initially but after that it should slow down. Losing weight fast can often mean it goes back on quickly. Losing it slowly gives your body time to adapt.

I use myfitnesspal to track my calories and it has been helpful in maintaining my weight-loss but also useful in seeing what kinds of food I eat- carbs, proteins and fats and that I'm getting enough (or too much) or those things!

Never heard of that, ill look into it. Thanks for all your advice!

Hi Bubbs86, I did the diet and lost 2 stone on it in 10 weeks, it works. Its total food replacement basically substituting all meals for their products. The products are good. They have offers running all the time, on their website their called package deals. It worked for me, alot of people are unsure about these diets, but it works fast and ive kept it off ever since.

Hi fairytots, wow congrats on that!! You must have serious willpower! Ya I never try these "diets" but this one caught my eye and I like that its not all shakes, theres actual real food also!! How did u break up your meals? Did u have all shakes or did u have the dinner everyday? I dont think I'd last if I had to cut out the dinner!! Fair play to you!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 Fairytots

Hi bubbs86, yea I don't have much willpower at all :) I had to have four products a day, so I'd a shake for breakfast at 11.00, bar for lunch at 14.00 (muesli were my fav) hot meal for dinner usually around 19.00 - which I added some broccoli and cauliflower, then another bar at 21.00ish, I'm such a night time muncher., they have wafers too, these are seriously yum, but these are like a snack so used in addition to your 4 products a day. Your only supposed to have 2-3 per week, but they come in packs if 2 so I had one everyday. My friend is doing the weigh and slim diet now and is on it 2 weeks, she's lost 11lbs so far, she's delighted. I liked that it was delivered to my door also, I hate having to go to meetings with groups I always felt humiliated stepping on the scales in front of everyone, so this diet worked for me in more ways than one :)

Hi fairytots, well done to your friend. Thats amazing results. Thanks for the info on meals, I was thinking the same, shake in morning, bar at lunch, dinner in eve and shake or bar whenever I feel hungry during the day or eve. I'll order it now and start next week! Here's hoping to good results!! Thanks for your help, will keep u updated!!😊

Hi fairytots, so I received my delivery yesterday and im just wondering about the dinners. I presumed they would be actual dinners and not packets!! How do I cook these??? Are they edible? 😯

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 Fairytots

Hi bubbs86, I thought the dinners are good, the instructions are on the website, I added about 150mls (of boiling water) and if it looked too thick then I added more. Cook it on the cooker in a saucepan, you can add pepper and dried herbs to them, but no salt (it will interfer with ketosis and thus fast weight loss) Have you started the diet yet? Another trick was I put the bars into the freezer, so then instead of eating them quickly they lasted longer :) and gave a good munch!

I've only ever seem salt supplementation recommended, never that you should avoid salt. Where did you hear this?

Both of you are right, initial steps of transition in metabolism cause water loss which is side effect of sodium loss. If you have blood pressure monitor you would notice that pressure drops as well. I would guess that to avoid this unpleasant period you may actually eat extra sodium, by salting a bit more or perhaps by replacing it with MSG - after all you want to lose fat tissue and not water. Obviously if you are selling wonder diet then, well.. water loss is as good loss as any other and if you are requesting customers to do only short term miracle diet then they would only see positives.

The diet is total food replacement, as any food outside of the diet will interfere with ketosis and restrict weight loss. Salt causes fluid retention therefore restricting maximum weight loss.

In order to achieve ketosis, wouldnt it be better to start off with no salt straight away? Is this not prolonging weight loss if it was excluded slowly? The first week on the diet I lost 8lbs - mostly water, then following that I lost approx 2.5lbs every week, this was fat. But if salt was continued for a week or two then weight loss continues to be water for another while?

The unpleasant period only lasts about 4-5 days (but is good coz it means your entering ketosis and will burn fat), by unpleasant I only experienced a headache on day 3 and super cold. But then Im cold 98% of the time anyway so this was normal for me :)

Weight loss wont continue to be water - you don't have an unlimited amount you can lose nor can you put an unlimited amount of water weight on - once the initial gain or loss occurs that's it. Salt can't really stop you losing weight and a pinch with your meal won't do you any harm.

    In order to achieve ketosis,

Why not do it with real food, rather than some manufactured powder or whatever?

Probably cheaper and definitely better taste

In general all those plans make managing easier and less hassle. They also remove need for educating yourself.

This diet is not really any different to Celebrity Slim or Lipotrim or Slim Fast. Extreme restricted calorie intake, rapid weight loss and - the truly awful part- rapid weight gain with little or no understanding of why the diet failed.
Every single person I know who has attempted one of these total food replacement diets piled the weight back on the moment they stopped and felt like failures, when in reality they were set up to fail from the off.
But it's like talking to deaf ears. Sustainable weight loss is of course possible with a genuine committment to a cleaner diet, it even allows for treats on occasion, but it takes a little effort and preperation and people seem to prefer to go for the quick fix, forgetting that just as it takes time to put weight on, it takes time to take it off.

OP, I honest to god wish you'd rethink this 'diet' and have a good read of the stickies instead; you'll save yourself time, money and a considerable amount of grief in the long run.

Can you really kick start health and longevity of behaviors through unhealthy behavior is my question

And this comes from someone having lived the obese life

    Just my 2c FWIW

I don't agree to be honest, I did the diet and have kept it off for many many years, its about changing your mindset, taking up exercise and eating healthy. A diet like this kick starts your weight loss which in turn causes motivation. Also ive 'another friend' (not the one i spoke about previously) and theyve kept it off too. Anything is achievable once you put your mind to it.

This EXACT diet or one similar?? from my little bit of research, the exact 'diet' in question has not been around years. You may be able to clarify? Thanks

You can take up exercise and eat healthily withough spending a fortune on food replacement/ calorie deficient meals. 'Kick start' is weasely phrase that suggests one needs to make the beginning of a journey a little difficult before one embarks on it. You don't, but fad diet proponents like to use this expression as a cover all bandaid rather than explore how miserable a strict food replacement diet can be.
The OP has already mention they have failed various 'diets' which is an indicator that this one will be no different. Lasting weight loss usually comes from less dramatic yet sustainable changes over time. It's not as glamourous say as a 7-10 pounds a week drop in weight, but the person has a far greater chance in reaching their target weight and remaining at said weight without suffering or depriving themselves unduly.

No one has any patience...people want to see results too fast rather than put proper dietary changes in place and be healthy.

For every person that uses these meal replacement diets and keeps weight off, there's another ten that fall back into old habits.

I have never tried this dieting thing.. I guess I stick to the natural ways of eating right and exercising.
