Well lads hope ye might be able to help me out.
Hoping to take on the farm in the next year or so. The farm is split in 3 about 90 acres in total. Without asking the old man, what kind of SFP would attached to the land of that size. I know different factoes come into play so a rough idea.
Plan woull be have 25 to 30 sucklers shifting weanlings at the back end of the autumn and just feeding cows overthe winter.
Just trying to work out how viable it is.
    Thanks

90 acres will easily carry 30 cows, if its any way half decent you will run 40-50. Try to farm as if you dont have a sfp .

I know it would but the land is quite dispersed. Best of it which is beside me would carry the 30 or so sucklers. Would it be niave to think that each suckler would return about 400euro per annum allowing for selling weanlings at the back end of the autumn having been pushed a bit but not overdone

Type your fathers(or anyone else's !!) name and address into the search box on this page and you will see what was drawn in 2009.Shouldnt have changed much since if the same land was farmed.

    That bloody website again....

They will have changed enough though due to the modulation cuts in case the OP gets over excited.

I'm afraid modulation will not have made much difference between 2009 and 2013.Prob. a couple of percent at the most.It also gives figures for the farm retirement pension so if you are really nosey you can see what auld lad has "retired" (on paper only in a few cases as far as I can see)
