I've been to both countries a number of times and have heard skiers from other countries say that Austria resorts carry out less 'pisteing' ie smoothing out of mougled pistes than is done in France as they believe in making thing more difficult. What would the broader boards ski community who have Skied a number of times in each country think? Definitely no such thing as a green slope in Austria either

Don't think so. A lot of Austrian resorts groom slopes twice a day. And I've encountered significantly more mogulled black slopes in France than in Austria.

I've often followed the pistenbully down the mountain after lunch in Austria. Crunchy!!!

I would agree with the two posters above. Having been to both countries I think they do a lot more maintenance in Austria.

I'd agree too, have often boarded down an Austrian slope just after the piste basher has gone up it. I don't think I've ever seen one out in France during the day time, only ever see them after the lifts are closed.
