Onwards from a Twist

I'm looking to buy something a little more substantial for home use, without going too crazy price-wise. There are so many options out there that, coupled with shiny-itis, I haven't a clue what to get. I have my two Twists for out and about, and that does me fine, but rather than have them on the go all the time I want to invest in something like I said, for at home, when I don't give a crap about it fitting in the oul handbag.

The MVP is very good. It'll last 2 days between charges and the V2 has VV and VW. Its box shaped though but it is pretty compact, about the same size as an old style box of 10 fags. Its available from most vendors but here's an example.

    http://www.e-smokeireland.eu/product-p/mvp2.htm

The V1 is still available from a few places at knockdown prices I think but it's only VV. Does me though,

Thanks, I'd been looking at the MVP alright, seems decent and a lot of people seem to like theirs. Since you still have one on the go I guess it's pretty durable? I've managed to get off the analogs completely, three days now, and I really want to find myself a decent setup for at home so I don't have to worry about ending up stuck.

Another vote for the MVP, I got mine after all my twists kept breaking, had it for a few months now and it just goes, and goes, great battery life, really sturdy and a consistent vape. The price is pretty good too. Seems to me that the MVP is the most logical first step into the mod world.

I have mine for ages as well and it's built very well. You can use it as a pass thru as well so that comes in handy.

Sold, heh. What do you guys use on the MVP then? At the moment I'm just using evods. I know you get a couple of dual coil clearos with the MVP on esmoke, are they the best for it or?

It will take anything with a 510 or ego connection.

Another vote for MVP 2. Bought 2 within a week or so. Battery lasts for days with the advantage of being able to charge phone etc.
I don't know how the postage would stack up but...www.myepack.co.uk is the cheapest over here. That said I've had some nice juice from Ireland.

Parcel Hotel could be a viable option ;)

Try the aspire clearos (maxi and ET-S etc). They blow evods out of the water (imho). And I've about 14 evods! :P

I use a Vamo mostly at home. I have a V2 about a year now, and a V3 about 6-7 months. Both still working away no bothers. But I still have a couple of twists and plain ego batteries on the go for heading out, or even sometimes at home for when all the Vamo batt's are charging. The twist is actually a brilliant little device for the price.

Agreed, I just want something more powerful and reliable for at home. When the spare twist started to act up yesterday I realised how little in the way of backup devices I have. I have the long twist batteries so they're not exactly very stealthy, starting to get to the stage now though where I couldn't give a toss if people give me the stink eye. Have even spotted a few old dears down the town with some basic vaping gear ;)

Yeah, I'm spotting at least one vaper every time I'm out and about lately. My twist is a 600mah, so it's hidden when you wrap your fingers around it. I've used it on the bus/train and in pubs and cafes, for a sneaky draw here and there. Nobody has ever batted an eyelid. If you're worried the vapour will draw attention just blow it down through through your closed hand :)

I'd recommend a Vamo for home use. Cheap and cheerful, does the same job as much more expensive devices. And in it's 18350 mode it's neat enough. I have both 18350 and 18650 batts. The longer ones for watching a long movie or whatever, when I don't want it to run out for a while.

I bought an itaste svd kit at the weekend as my upgrade from the twist! Like yourself im out and about with the twist and wanted something for the ole luxoury vape in the evenings and at weekends. Im finding it great, although it is a bit of a beast with the 18650 battery in , but lasts ages. It came with two iclear30s which hold 3ml of juice and vape really nice. I also got an extra long extension tube to allow me to vary the battery choice, and 3 spare attomizer heads. I added the battery and charger myself. Whole lot ran me 85 blips. Could have got it cheaper online but i wanted to buy my first mod in a walk in store so i could get a feel for it and see was it for me before i shelled out.

Wouldn't blame you wanting to have a look at it in person before buying, I'd do the same if I had a shop near me. I did consider the SVD but to be honest I wasn't sure of the size of it hahah. Can you pop back in a few weeks and let me know how it is after a bit of use? I was going to get two MVPs but if it's decent I may have to give that a go instead. I can see how people end up with a shelf full of this stuff! :D

Just received my Vamo V5, hooked it up to the Aspire Nautilus & fired her up...

I have seen the light, there's no going back now :D

I've just ordered 18350's for it, with the 18650's it looks like a fookn light sabre :pac:

The Nautilus is a fine piece of kit, the air flow control works a treat, the finest setting giving a tight but still enjoyable draw.

All that remains now is to see how long the coils last before they need rebuilding.

Thanks! I'm in Wicklow, not exactly a long way away from the city but without a car, and public transport is a bit of hassle with a three and a half year old maniac, sorry, child :D

Well, I went to order the MVP tonight, then the shinyitis got me, not to mention the few other advantages, and I ended up ordering a VTR instead. Got some good batteries and a charger too. I figured feckit, a few extra quid for a really solid bit of kit that'll last me a good long time. I don't use anything that wouldn't fit on it so the cage wasn't an issue to me. Here's hoping it delivers before the weekend!

Ahh well in that case you definitely understand then, haha. I do love the look of it, reviews were very good. I ordered it and the few accessories from esmoke ireland, I can't fault them really, so it shouldn't take too long (unless the postman gets blown away in the beautiful weather we're having) :p

Esmokeireland are bang on. I called to the house a couple of weeks ago and picked up a few bits. Really nice people

That's very decent of them :)

I was having a browse back through the forums and I was just wondering, when you're using a carto/tank setup, with the cartos pre-punched, do you just pop them in the tank and drip fill them, slowly, then fill the tank? Also, how long do the cartos then last in a tank setup before you have to change them? I like the look of some of them but it just looks very fiddley and I'm far from mechanically minded!

Well im not the man to answer that one. But ive been meaning to ask that question too. Id like to try out a carto tank set up soon. Id also like to know (If anybody wants to jump in) whats the main benefit of carto tanks?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭Green Hornet

Right, I'll answer that one. I know from my first experience where I popped the carto into the tank and took a toke without priming......not pleasant.....

I'd prime the carto using the condom method, only takes a couple of mins. That's key for any carto.

Punch the carto (unless its of the prepunched variety). Pop the carto into the tank, fill the tank and close it. Vape. That's it.

In short, always, always make sure the carto is soaked before a vape.

You'll know that its wicking okay when you see those lovely bubbles coming into the tank when you're vaping, or just after a vape. If you don't see bubbles if means that you 'may' need to add a second punch hole but that's unlikely.

Thanks for jumping in to answer. I've read all about the condom method and I have a few cartos in my...well, 'vaping press' as it's known, unused as of yet :o But I would've thought if you fill it then punch it, it'd leak? Or does the filler hold it in without any leakage? That's why I've stuck to clearos thus far, the tank systems look like a great setup but I was always confused how you wouldn't end up with juice everywhere.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭Green Hornet

If it's primed and you punch it the filler holds onto the juice. It won't leak.

The other option is to punch it without priming and put it into the tank. Fill the tank and drip fill the carto then. That's a slower process though.

Some people actually prime them by dry pulling the punched carto in the tank until the filler is soaked. You'll see the juice level drop and know when bubbles stop coming out from the carto that it's soaked.

I prefer the prime the carto first with the condom though.

Eugh, wouldn't fancy dry pulling to fill it, mouthful of your favourite juice anyone?

Thanks so much for clearing that up for me. So, can I buy prepunched cartos and a tank, then fill those prepunched cartos using the condom method, or are you better off punching them yourself after priming? (Or putting them in the tank and slowly filling them)

The F17 system comes with pre punched cartos:

Well, my VTR arrived in the post today - very, very impressed :D

Made the stupid mistake of trying a new liquid in the included iClear30s, not very fond of it (maybe it'll grow on me?), but the device itself is the bee's knees. Really solid, easy to use, heavy, shiny, did I mention heavy?! Have to start swapping arms now on the pc heheh. Going to order a few more iClear30s next week and try some of my favourite liquids in em.

Them iclear 30s are easy to clean! Just pour the juice back in the bottle screw em all apart and wash them in a bowl of warm water. I dried the wicks with kitchen roll and gave them a dry burn and they were brand new. I did the same ting if you havnt guessed! I also screwed one of mine on 2 tight and when i screwed it off the centre pin stayed screwed to the device. Managed to fix it but watch out for that.

Ahh nice one, thanks a mill for the advice. I was raging after I did it, was quite confident I'd like the juice. When you say dry burn what do you mean, put it all together and fire the device for a few seconds? That'll teach me to use the cheap clearos to try juice out instead of the fancy sh1t :P

Yea exactly just give it a few 3 to 5 second fires with no juice in to burn off any juice residue of the wicks and coil. Give another quick rinse and dry and the flavour should be pretty much bang on for the new juice. Carefull not to use boiling water though, ive ruined a couple of clearos. The water being too hot ruins the integrity of any rubber or plastic parts and may cause them to leak. I keep a few leaky rubbish ce4s lying around for testing new flavours

Ah grand so, will do that later when I have a few minutes of peace. I'm just using an evod on it today, with the extension bit. Looks ridiculous but still, loving the VTR. Actually starting to get used to the weight of it. I do know what people meant about taking it out in public though, it's very hip flask-ish haha.
