Cllr Conneely said that someone monitored the alleged brothel over a 4 hour period.
He said that 17 people entered the apartment building over the period and in the public interest, the person monitoring the alleged brothel entered too.
He said that services were openly advertised for €100 http://connachttribune.ie/breaking-news/29358-mayor-claims-city-brothel-doing-good-business
    .

What's going on? Who was monitoring the brothel?
Anyone know where this brothel is roughly?
    This is very killanaskully :D
Between this, the cinema and other stuff, Cllr Conneely appears remarkably interested in the seedier side of Galway

Glad to hear business is going well for them.

Heard him on the radio this morning, he's learned the word "trafficing" and copped that being concerned about this makes his concerns more listened-to.

According to the local meeja, the alleged brothel is adjacent to a church.

Siting a church next to a den of iniquity sounds like dodgy planning to me. ;)

Then again, nothing propinks like propinquity...

It being our old buddy Cllr Conneely, I presume he is hastening to have his photograph taken beside/inside said den of iniquity...?

I would be shocked if there weren't several brothels in Galway. I think we can all guess which church has one adjacent to it.

Perhaps it's not dodgy "planning" after all, and in fact the locations are carefully selected:
Mr Conneely said prostitutes were "parading" close to the brothels in the city, one located close to St Augustine’s Church in the city centre and the other in The Crescent area, where a large number of doctor‘s’ surgeries are located.

I'm having problems narrowing it down to one church: could be any or all of the Methodist one, St Nicholas, the Augustinian or the Franciscian. Actually, maybe the Jes as well.

Mmm, maybe they have one each. :p

Imagine if that brothel was legalized and taxed and how much money would be made from those 17 "Johns" on one evening.

Ahh, women who work as prostitues are required to declare all their earned income, whether it came from legal sources or illegal ones.

Just like the rest of us.

Granted, auditing them is a little more difficult than in many lines of work.

What they are missing out on is PRSI "stamps" which would let them get benefits if they become unemployed or sick.

€100 a go, so says the paper. How do they know? Reporting excellence, that's how!

I've been searching for this brothel for the last week and I've come to the conclusion that Conneely is talking about a metaphorical brothel. Maybe the brothel has been inside us all along.

He's a busy man; just heard on the radio that he visited a shed last week that's being used by young people indulging in alcohol, drugs and sex. He saw some of this himself!

I'll try find a link later.

Detective McNulty proclaimed them "spot on".

For a man of his age, he has some energy and drive for seeking out the seedy activities of others. For science.
