I tried an espresso from it there now and I found it quite sweet with a nice subtle acidity to it. Really enjoyed it.

I'll be havin it in the Aeropress tomorrow morning so will report back then.

Coffee only roasted on the 23rd which is good. Was meant to ship on the 27th which it obviously did.. ie yesterday and came today which I was impressed by. Just in time too as my last bag ran out yesterday.

So nice to have a bag coming every month. I'll still have to pick up at least another bag somewhere each month but its great to have a little surprise bag!

Got mine also this afternoon - delivered by courier! Fair play to them. Also the bean doesn't appear to be available on the Hasbean website which is a good thing IMO - though you know that Steve has sourced the green and likely worked with the guys on the roast profile. Looking forward to trying it in the morning.

I like Bolivian coffee. Can't get better than locally picked and roasted in Bolivia (!) but this one looks great. Fallon and Byrne do some Bolivian coffee, don't know about it.

3FE is next to my work, I'll take a look at it next week.

Just in to work now. Had my aeropressed coffee this morning in the car on the way in, in my keepcup cup. Love that keepcup. If anyones interested in a good take away style reusable cup btw I find it great. http://www.keepcup.com/ very expensive with shipping if you buy them directly from the website but Insomnia sell them in a medium and large for under a tenner. The medium is plenty big. I do not work for Insomnia btw, or Keepcup.

Anyway I digress. Loved the aeropressed cup this morning. The coffee kept a lovely sweet taste throughout and and nice lingering aftertaste also.
Aeropress is now by far my favourite way to have a coffee. Such a smooth cup of coffee.

I'd recommend picking up a bag of this if your near 3FE and they have it in stock. I'll hopefully be there on Monday and will be grabbing another bag if they have any. Otherwise I'll get something else as I cant see this bag lasting too long. :D

What do you think of it Donnacha?

Only opened it this morning - had it in a cappucino and being totally honest thought it was a bit lost in the milk.

I do really like the look of the roast profile and imagine I'll get a bit more pleasure out of it via chemex or aeropress which I'll try at the weekend. Will probably give it a spin as a straight espresso when I get home later.

Was sorta also hoping for something more out of the sub - like a little card or an email telling you a bit more about the farm, or 3FE's favourite method of brew etc. Maybe I'm just spoilt with the info available on both the hasbean and squaremile subs.

I got an email from them today. Havent read it yet in fairness but a quick scan through it makes me think its telling me about the coffee. Will have a proper look later and report back.

I havent tried it with milk as tbh I'm just not a big milky coffee guy. The odd one now and again I suppose.
I used to be all about the espresso but recently I've mostly been drinkin Aeropress.
That said when I get a new coffee I always go straight for espresso. I just find it helps me find the flavours quicker and gives me an idea of what to expect in the aeropress.

I definitely typed too soon ... :pac: If I'd checked my email I'd of seen a great background and introduction to the coffee. Sort of what I was expecting from Col and gang.

Just brewed up an espresso there:

    334u4wi.jpg

Dosage of 19g, brewed for 27 secs @ 93°. Weight was 36g - so happy enough but will probably dial in a bit finer.

Much preferred it as an espresso - I wouldn't describe it as overly complex and as they point out in the email its very 'sessionable' - a sweet shot of espresso.

Was a little miffed after signing up for the sub to not even get a welcome email and further disappointed when I received the coffee to only see the bag and no little welcome card, further info, what to expect next month, photo of them roasting it, anything really would have been nice. Maybe it's a case of them being rushed to get the first one roasted and shipped out on time.

Mine arrived on Tuesday and is still sitting in it's bag, Gaggia Classic is in the middle of repairs http://www.coffeegeek.com/forums/espresso/machines/657308 so holding off until I have her fixed up.

    :D

You should check your email - I received it just after 12:30 today ... I also got a welcome card/cert in the post when I signed up.

Sorry to hear your about classic - looks like you are plugged in with some knowledgeable folks there on coffeegeek.

Happy to give you a lend of an aeropress if that helps you out in the short term? I'm out Dun Laoghaire way.

I should mention that I signed up after Christmas and maybe all that action was happening before Christmas? All I received was my payment receipt.

Yeah I have a new pump ready to go in so just want to make sure it IS the pump that's at fault before I put her in.

Thanks a million but I have one myself, it's been getting great use the past couple of weeks. Gone through a couple of bags of Badger & Dodo on it but keeping the 3fe bag for the Gaggia!

Stock on South King St., near the Gaiety Theatre, also, um, stock Keep cups. I usually make myself an Aeropress coffee in a Keep Cup for my walk to work but in this cold weather, it cools down mighty fast in the Keep Cup and maybe it's perception, but the coffee just seems to taste different. Tomorrow, I might try to make a double strength Aeropress topped up with hot water to fill it up and see how I get on. Maybe the added water will keep it warmer for longer.

Thought I should mention that I REALLY enjoyed the first bag from 3fe. More so than a lot of the HasBean coffee I was drinking last year. After running out last week I picked up a bag of 3fe Colombian La Esperanza (washed catura, typica & Bourbon) which was also nice but not as good as the Copacabana.

When's the next one to drop? 26th/27th?

Was just leaving for work this morning when the courier pulled up. Didn't get a chance to taste it either unfortunately. Was nice to have a print off of the info we received via email last time. Stickers? Eh why exactly? But ok. Loving having coffee delivered to the door. Great idea.

I'll brew some up soon and report back. Stickers probably because cheap to produce and a nice little extra gift. They do have a beautiful logo just pity they didn't use a high res version on their print off ;)

Nice gift? I put them straight in the bin.

    Just had an aeropress:

18g, 1min pour, quick stir of the bloom, slow press all done round 1:30.

Lovely, definitely getting the dark berries almost tart dried fruit taste from this. The smell from the Skerton grinder was so good.

Sorry for the very late reply on this one James I just finished my bag yesterday in time for this mornings delivery.

Bearing in mind my espresso set up is poor currently hence the other thread of me buying a Classic I've been drinking the coffee for the last few weeks exclusively as Aeropress.

I'd love to be trying it as espresso as well but I've been very impressed with the results as filter.

I hear you on the dark fruits, I also thought it had a really nice sweet finish as well. Lovely clean cup of coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed the bag.

As I say I got the new bags this morning, two sepearte smaller bags for whatever reason. I havent actually tried it yet as I was in a rush to work this morning.

They are so freshly roasted I'm kind of curious on people opinions on drinking it straight away. I read that coffee is at its peak 2 weeks after the roast and then declines after that point.

So should you wait maybe a week before starting to grind and drink or enjoy all parts of the cycle so to speak, the couple of days after the roast right up until the 2 week point and after?

I really enjoyed it too, although by the end of a 250g bag I'm a little tired of the taste and crave something else for some contrast. Splitting the 250g bag for this months subscription was a great idea as it allows you to do some home side-by-side comparisons. This is a huge month for me with coffee - Square mile espresso Red Brick arrived, 3fE two bags arrived and 2kg of Caravan to get through also (I'll share this out as no way I can drink all that on my own)!!

I blind tasted (aeropress) one of the new coffees from 3fE this morning, it was a little muted, kinda tea like! I was getting lovely strawberry sweet smells from the grind but that didn't transfer to cup for me. I've not read the description yet but I'm probably way off haha

I always thought it was a week after roast it really starts to hit its peak. Anyone else know much about this?
