Hi, I have this device at home

The DAB radio used to work great until about 9-12 months ago. Now it cuts in and out depending on where you stand in the room where it is. There's no antenna and i wasn't aware i might need one (because it worked fine before)

Did something change in the frequency that might have caused this issue to happen ?

Excuse my ignorance on this matter :)

You will need an antenna. Even a metre of single wire is better than nothing. If you received it with no antenna before the signal must be very strong in your area anyway, should be easy to fix.

It's surprising that it worked before, the radio mustn't be very well shielded. :p

Thanks for the reply. When i plugin the AM antenna i get a bit of a signal but it cuts out like i mentioned above. Do you think i could pick one up in Maplin or maybe another shop in Dublin ?

    Thanks

The AM antenna is for Medium wave / Long wave reception only.

You need to plug an antenna into the coaxial socket on the rear of the unit to improve DAB and FM reception. see link

You would have received this antenna in the original packaging

If you do not have the original antenna you can buy a TV coax plug in any of the big TV/ electrical outlets
or a good hardware and connect about 1.3 meters long of any type of single core wire into it. This should improve your reception of DAB stations. Alternatively you could a coaxial cable to an outside antenna if the signal is very weak in your area.

A Band III TV aerial of the common Log type is ideal for DAB.

But the bit rate of RTE is terrible and the extra stations not on FM are of dubious value.
