Dell Inspiron 6000, incredibly slow

I have an old Inspiron 6000 Windows XP on it and it is incredibly slow. I have removed unused programs via the Add/Remove control panel and I have also removed old files that I no longer used. I've run CCleaner on it as well as Virus scans and anti-malware scans.

But none of this helped in any way. If I do a restore of the Laptop using the discs I got when I bought it, will this help in any way?

I am just looking at getting the thing running for light use so that it is not frustrating when using it.

Any other ideas on how to speed it up?

Does Xp report the correct amount of RAM? (System Properties) If not, try reseating the RAM if there is 2 sticks
