My lovely car has finally died. I need to scarp her but i haven't a clue what the scrap value is. she is a Ford Fiesta 00 with alloys, electric windows and AC (not sure if that makes a difference).

What should I expect to get so i dont get ripped off......there is also some tax owed, if she is transferred to the scappy do I still have to pay?

    Cheers, im completely clueless

    Its a 5 door

My only problem with spares or repair is I live on a mountain and she doesnt turn over anymore so to take her away from here she would have to be towed or broken down on site......I dont think many people would want to tow due to the steep gradients.

The scarppy is at the bottom of the mountain so I thought would be an easy option

For a car like that you should expect
to get 100 euro from a reputable car breaker.
Make sure you are issued with a certificate of destruction.

cheers i didn't know about the cert ....sad that she is only worth 100 but its better than nothing.
I actually feel guilty about scrapping her, how sad of me :)

You need a minimum of 3 months tax left on it to get a refund afaik and you will need the certificate of destruction to apply for the refund. The certificate of destruction also ensures that the car no longer has any connection to you.

if the car wont be used on the road again then you dont have to worry about tax ...

just make sure you get a cert off the scrappy (sometimes they post then out after a few weeks)
