    Hi guys,

Fibre installed. My stats look good. Would Vodafone push this to a 50Mbit profile?

    Cheers

    simply.... yes

    these are my stats

Line Rate (Down / Up) 50174 Kbps / 20479 Kbps
Noise Margin (Down / Up) 9.3 dB / 8.4 dB
    Attenuation (Down / Up) 14 dB / 5.1 dB
    Power (Down / Up) 12.4 dBm / 1.1 dBm

Probably not. It's your line attenuation that has a bigger bearing on it. At 12.2 it would indicate a distance of ~850m from the cab. A 41 meg connection is good for that distance.

How do I check these readings on my fibre?

Log into the router page and they are there. What router are you using?

    Don't doubt ya.:)

Each line has it's own characteristics so there is no hard and fast rule, just generalisations.
In contrast, I've seen better line stats than yours with worse sync speeds.

They took it to 50/20 and it's rock solid!

    What are your new stats?

SNR went down to 7.5. No CRC or FEC errors, no drop-outs, happy so far.

How far away are you from the cabinet?

Hi guys what stats should I be looking for in this, I'm not on fiber for another 5 months or so , but at the exchange the speed is about 20 mb im about 700m away and only getting 2mb is this right, girlfriends mother is about another 500m further down the road getting 7mb does this sound right.

You need to access your router's configuration page and look at your stats.

You need to access your router's configuration page and look at your stats.

Which stats affect the speed don't have them on hand the ones I remember are
    Downstream LR: 2mb
Upstream: was very bad in the hundreds of kb
    Downstream snr: 30.4
    Downstream line attenuation: 12

Is it the line that's affecting it couldn't really be distance as my girlfriends mother lives further down the road and is getting 7mb.

Been away for several days. What are your entire stats - can you post a screen capture, please?

They're all good. Sync 50/20, Attenuation 12.2, SNR 7, Power 12.4. Working flawlessly.

I had Vodafone '70Mb' broadband installed yesterday. I'm getting 22Mb at best out of it.

    Line standard VDSL2
    Channel type None
    Downstream line rate (kbit/s) 40961
    Upstream line rate (kbit/s) 16382
    Downstream SNR (dB) 21.3
    Upstream SNR (dB) 14.6
    Downstream line attenuation (dB) 10.7
    Upstream line attenuation (dB) 3.4
    Downstream output power (dBmV) 14.1
    Upstream output power (dBmV) -7.9
    Downstream CRC 18
    Upstream CRC 0
    Downstream FEC 11
    Upstream FEC 6

That's the info from my router, any thoughts on how to improve it? Engineer tested the line when he was installing and he was getting up to 90.

It's synced at 40Mb, just ring them.

What type network card are you using for those speeds? Some network cards won't handle higher speeds.

You should be able to go a good bit faster, NDB. Phone them. FYI they can't access your connection for about 2 days after installation until the order fully posts to their system.

Even on the 40Mb profile you should get almost that speed on ookla speedtest, but preferably use a wired (ethernet) connection. As ted1 is suggesting (I think) wi-fi is not your best option for stable speed and is dependant on your wi-fi setup and distance from the router etc. They may move you to the higher profile after a day or two of running but if they don't then get in touch and ask for the higher speed.

I was saying that if he has a g card his theoretical max speed is 54mbs, and he should do a test using a wired connection.
I often here people go on about having a 200mb connection but are using a g card so can't achieve near those speeds. Even if you have a n card if there is a g card connected to the network it'll slow down the connection
