Dual Monitor Display

Ok so I have a 23" ASUS monitor as my primary on my PC and I got a TV/Monitor 24" from Samsung. I was wondering how would I go about using it as my second monitor. I only have one GPU, GTX 650 SC. The TV/Monitor came with VGA/DVI cables and a HDMI cable.

I looked up VGA and DVI ports on ebay but they seem to be rather difficult to find so I was wondering how do you guys do it with one gpu?

All I need is visual. Audio does not matter

The gpu will have multiple outputs on it. Look closely at your one to see what options you have. Probably 2xdvi will work fine, or 1xdvi and 1xhdmi.

It has 1 DVI, 1 VGA and 1 HDMI ports. There is another port which I'm not familiar with.

So what's the problem? Connect monitors, off you go.

On the GPU? I have the VGA and DVI port already used for the primary monitor. Could I use a HDMI cable to the second monitor?

How can you use 2 ports for one monitor?

    Let me draw you picture:

    GPU DVI port <
    cable
    > monitor #1
    GPU HDMI port <
    cable ----> monitor #2

Don't use vga if you can help it. And don't use any ports on the mainboard if present, only use the gpu ones.

Ok, seems to have worked! Cheers!

I assume starting up on the monitor that is connected by a HDMI cable is first and you'll have to configure the window setting?

You can select which monitor is "primary" in display settings.

Is it possible to change which monitor is which? I have three monitors appearing for some reason, one is Samsung and the other two is Asus, why is this happening? It's sort of affecting my display

Ok, I've removed the third monitor but the toolbar isn't where I want it to be, currently showing on the right monitor when I want it on the left and if I make the left as primary then the border is open to the left instead of the right. Are you making sense of that? What I mean is, if I make the left monitor primary (which is what I want) the toolbar and files are on the left but to access the right monitor, I have to move my mouse to the left

You can rearrange the monitors in settings by dragging.

I did that but it's not coming out the way it should be or at least what I want. I guess I can move the monitors around on the desk?

You did it wrong so. Arrange the monitors in settings just like you have them setup physically. This has nothing to do with setting one primary...

    Settings (fix this):
    2 1

    Physical:
    1 2

If you give up then just switch the cables around. No need to actually move the monitors...

I wasn't sure about the settings you were on about but I changed the cables around and it seemed to work.

    Cheers for the help mate!
