Ford Focus losing coolant

My '05 1.6 TDCi Focus, now with my parents back in Ireland since I left a few years ago is losing coolant. From what I've gathered from my family there are no signs of a leak, no mayonnaise looking gunk under the radiator cap from what they have told me.
It's not overheating or anything and is being kept topped up. It's being left into the garage today or tomorrow. I think the car has about 120,000km's.
I suspect a hose might have perished somewhere and its losing coolant under pressure as its not leaking when stationary.

Anybody have similar experiences as to what the problem is?

I had the same problem with my focus now it was an 03 tdci but might be the same. It was leaking from the frost plugs 2 needed to be replaced. Same as you no sign of leak or overheating.

    Thanks Gavman.

Seemingly it started when they couldn't get the coolant cap off for a while. Once they managed to get it off thats when the issue started. Could be as simple as the cap not sealing the system properly. Hopefully it is something that simple.
