Accessing enrolment data for previous years

    Hey all,

I am trying to track down a student of a national school from about 5-8 years ago and can't remember their full name.
Is there any way I can access the enrolment data of a primary school, with the list of names who attended?

Is this person related to you? Trying to track down a 17-20 year old based on what primary school they went to sounds a bit creepy, to be honest.

If you went to the school, were friends with the person and know the teachers, you could go in and ask. (Although if you can't remember their surname I'm guessing not much of that is the case ;) )

If you weren't in the school, or the teachers don't know you, then they probably would not give you the information.

    You might find something here..

    http://www.nationalarchives.ie/topics/Nat_Schools/ns.html

Although it seems to be more historical than up-to-date.

No. Believe it or not schools don't hand out information to random strangers off the street.

There is nothing creepy whatsoever about it.

It is regarding a legal matter.

Why would everyone copy you here and presume there is some weird reason for it?

    Come on.

Also, you should know me from the Gaeilge forum. I don't troll.

I never said you were trolling the forum. I just find it strange that anyone would expect schools to give out the enrolment details of children who had attended, unless it was to a parent/guardian of the pupil in question.

More than that, you said it sounded creepy.

A remark too far. I'm a young woman.

Contact the school in question. They might offer to contact her on your behalf and pass your details on to her?

Well I also think it sounds creepy. This is an anonymous internet forum. There are ways and means of legally tracking down students in schools. Anonymous requests don't feature on that list I'm afraid. We can't help how such requests come across to us. As I don't read many forums on here I can only judge by the post in front of me

I asked a general question though. As in, if there is a standard way to find enrolment data for national schools. Seemingly there isn't.

I will be able to do this through a solicitor hopefully.

I can't imagine many schools letting strangers at the roll books!

So young women can't be creepy? That is a bit sexist...

You all sound like the creepy ones! :)

I'm a former pupil of the school in question and it's a matter relating to the school..

I expected the answer to be that the rollbook would be available via the board of management or something else.

Anyway it's fine, I'll just go through a solicitor, so don't worry :)
