Query on Cyclist

    My car was parked the other day and a Cyclist hit my back light and damaged it, needs to be replaced,

    i took her address details mobile etc , have to give her a price for the light,

    Just wondering whats the law on this ?

    She's liable if she was negligent.

    And hitting a parked vehicle is usually negligent - unless, perhaps, the vehicle was negligently parked, in a place where it could not easily be seen, or would not be expected to be. But you don't suggest anything of the kind.

    It's also possible that she could escape liability if someone else was liable - e.g. she swerves to avoid a careless motorist or a pedestrian stepping out into the road, and as a result hits your light. But, again, you don't suggest anything of the kind.

    was the car parked in a legal manner,then she was liable,was it dark,did you have your lights on,did you suddenly stop
