Really, if your only language is English, then Britain would be top of the list for your job prospects. However, you could also consider searching for jobs with big multi-national IT companies in non-English speaking countries.

For the latter option, each country would be much of a muchness, but Germany, France, Belgium & Switzerland may pip the others in terms of available jobs.

You can get the "Swiss Effect" in southern Germany, especially Munich. The economy is strongest there and there are plenty of jobs in IT that won't require German. (what exactly do you do? programmer?, sys admin?) and you are close to the Alps if that floats your boat. Even in the economic black hole that is Berlin, IT is doing well and there are loads on non-German speaking programmers here. Even in my team which is all German except for me, the code is documented in English in case any non-German speakers need to read it. In the other teams in my company they generally have folks who can't speak German, so meetings are even conducted in English. We are not a multinational but there's a labour shortage in Germany in many technical areas, so even German companies have to hire non-German speaking candidates.

If you want to live and work down south, you could do worse than what some folks do: live in France, work in Basel or nearby on the Swiss side and do your grocery shopping in Germany. This takes advantage of cheaper costs of accommodation in France, better wages in Switzerland and cheaper groceries in Germany! I don't know what Basel is like for IT jobs though, maybe Hill Billy can comment.

Yeah then you should be fine. We have a Polish guy in our firm's sys admin team who only speaks Polish and English, and that's in Berlin.

I've no idea what the IT jobs market is like in Basel tbh. But it is generally quite bouyant in Switz. More & more companies are looking for a second language though. However, as a sysadmin - this may not be a big issue.

It really depends on your skills and a bit of luck. If you don't try you'll never know. I know several people who have found good jobs with only English...
